My normal supplier of pine shavings hasn't got any in stock (I usually buy it by the trailer load) and say it could be months before they have any more. Other people in Bunbury charge $17 a feed bag. Does any one know where I can get some at a reasonable price, even if it is the compressed bales. Otherwise it is newspaper and shredded paper and much, much more work.

Nadine - I used to pay $33 for a trailer load which was equivalent to 19 bags. You know who would get it a lot cheaper by the truck load. what a whopping profit to charge $17 a bag!!!! At least the compressed bales have about # bags in them.
Thank you Silvercloud, I appreciate it.

What do you use the pine shavings for??? If it is nesting material have you tried peat moss before??? It's a soil and helps stop the babies poo from sticking to their feet like pine shavings do... You might be able to find that while you wait for the shavings to come back... Just an idea...

Thhat's o.k Thanks for the suggestion. A lot of people don't understand that it keeps the rabbits cleaner and also drier if it is used as bedding. It also saves me a lot of work because I use a litter scoop to clean their toilet area and then I don't have to clean the hutches anywhere near as often. Jarrah shavings stains their feet and also gets stuck in babies eyes and causes infections.

So do I. At the moment they are on shredded paper which means that most of them have to be cleaned every day.
