What do you mean? The lution is the same in all parrots and opaline does the same too, opaline just affects the way pigment is distributed in the feathers so they are random splashings. Lutino removes all pigment except yellow and white.

expensive red rumps Never seen one of them !!!! But then again i NEVER seen a Cheep MACAW !!! lmao Albino Red Rumps over Mark sell for about $1000 The prices have come right down on alot of the mutations. About 5 years back Blue Red Rumps would set you back about $2000. Some still sell for about $1000. Rubino's cost about $1000 a pair now. A friend of mine over here use to import them. When he got his most recent pair lutino opalines or something like that ( can't think of exact name ) but they are all yellow with splashes of red down the the back and some of the front. Paid around $4500 - $5000 for them.

Alot of it comes down to greed to I think. Most can sell them for less but know that there are people wanting them so they up the price and basically sell to the highest offer. Its sad but greed is a huge factor on why people raise alot of big birds over here.
I may have alot of expensive birds by Australian prices but I barely make enough money off their sales. I work full time at this. what little money I do make comes of the sales of the bird toys I make when I get the time.
I paid $3000 3 years back for 2 breeding pairs of White Bellied Caiques. Lost both males within 18 months. Held back a baby to put with 1 hen. Found another male for the other hen. I'm barely just starting to get some return on that investment.
Thankfully though I'm in this for the love and challege of breeding & raising birds.

P.S HAPPY EASTER EVERYONE Mark, I'm like in that I rarely have to borrow money from the other half to get birds. It's self sustaining at the moment and I"m hoping it stays that way. I'm sorry to hear about you losing so many birds. We had a really bad cold snap here back in January. Didn't lose anything this time but 2 years back we lost several pairs of Neophemas & a bunch of Gouldian Finches. The cover blue off the aviary in the night. within 2 days we lost the finches and Scarlet Chests. We were pissed as we had some gorgeous Blue & Silver Goulds that cost about $300 a piece. The wind chill just did them in. Disheartening but you just move on and go about things. If I can only convince the other half that if we don't have money to spend on birds then we're not getting new birds. I did get a pair of White Capped Pionus yesterday. Put an order in for some new breeding flights too Cheers J
