Sorry I can't open my last thread (error). I can only start a new one LOL
anyway...
The ewes are starting to lamb. Not good news (yet). One of the ewes went into the creek last night (silly thing) & got stuck while giving birth. She gave birth to twins, ewe & twins died.
It looks like the ewe got her head stuck in some reeds & couldn't get herself out... Hopefully the other ewes will stay away from the creek while giving birth. It is fairly shallow ATM & they've cleaned up most of the mess in it. I think it was just unfortunate that this ewe did get stuck at the wrong time...

1 miss carry, 2 healthy lambs so far. I'm heading to the in laws this weekend for photo's. Dave took some *rough* video of the lambs, they look cute 1 has black feet, the other has black down his neck as well as on his face! I'll post pics of the little cuties on the weekend. There might even be 1 or 2 more by then

Oh it's been a while since the update!
Total of 7 lambs, 1 set of twins. The eldest has grown SO fast!! Almost the size of mum. 1 ram out of the 7 lambs, thank goodness only one!
Dave & I are now looking into making it a stud (the sheep). Because the in laws haven't put a great deal of though into this. Dave's mum can't bare to part with the lambs as meat or anything else so they're stuck with 14 ewes & 2 rams!! We need to consider separating them very soon now & the only way we can get around not having them breed like crazy but keeping some is by having a stud to sell the sheep. So it's something we gotta think about now. We will do all the work. The in laws are into the idea but don't wanna do the work, they're in their 70's & can't be bothered. Fair enough & Dave & I like the idea of doing it ourselves. Dave's dad has been in touch with the sellers & will be receiving paperwork they need on the sheep so we can start preparing for the stud. The ewes came to us pregnant & we suspect the ram that came with them wasn't the father which will be good cos that means he will be able to father the lambs once they mature. but we need to find out for sure first.

Wow that's cool news! Keep us updated on the stud progress Kim! It is a great hobby trust me I enjoy it heaps, definitely need to separate the young ram off when he is weaned and you should be able to sell him off as a stud ram!
