Ok, so we all know some reptiles need uvb in order to survive and to keep up with calcium. But what are some of the other benefits? The non life-threatening ones. That I know of, these are some benefits/ways good fluorescent lights can help, both threatening and non-threatening ones,
UVA: -aggressive feeding -calm during rest periods -social behavior -basking abilities -reproduction
UVB: -Facilitating photosynthesis -processing calcium/phosphorous -bone strength -immune systems
If you have a reptile that uses uvb, what lights do you/have you used in the past? I have used most major types of lighting including reptisun and some mercury vapors. The ones I have not tried are the reptiglos. Recently, and when I say recently I mean less than a year ago I started trying out Zilla desert series lights and they were pretty good. And indeed I've seen changes of the things listed under the uva, which makes sense since you can't really view things like calcium being processed. I had never tried them before, but I started to use the ones they had re-done. Anyone else ever see changes in their reptiles after switching lights, too?
