Look what i found today... how could i resist picking him up from the soaking wet ground shivering and cold and bringing him home.. poor baby... he cant even fly he/she is a western long billed corella bub. not quite ready to fledge yet, bit adventurous i reckon to be out of the nest log at this age hehe. although not realy his fault as his tree had falen down!! It amazes me every time how well these guys adapt to handrearing! i put a spoon in his mouth and BAM really great feeding response! I think i will house it with slack as a companion for him. if the parents kick up to much of a fuss i will probably sell/ give them away . i hate slack being so lonely:(

He look very nice. Lucky you had found him, who knows what could have happened. Great to see he took to the spoon well.

Glad you found him to look after. Your not anywhere near the Lake Muir population are you? They are endangered.

Westerns are endangered? There are seriously thousands of them at home! Ok did a quick search, nope im not down south so not next to the population at lake muir. Im in Beacon which is like middle of nowehere mmmm look for karoun hill nature reserve on the map and i live on the edge of it. they are definantly western corellas, and they are definantly breeding very very very well at home (since i am in perth now i dont get to see them any more:"( ) I have slack, he is also a western.
Mabye this is the same as wedge tailed eagles being not so common anymore..... when they do population counts the look down south, they need to go home where you see atleast 40-50 different wedgies a day ;D
