Some time ago while visiting my parents in QLD, we went reptile searching for pics and came across these little fellas. There were quite a few of all sizes along with toads of course. Being a "Southerner" Shane had not seen a toad in real life before so he was quite facinated and grossed out by them lol Meet Kermit.... and his buddies.... The toad..... and this little grey one...

that's why I love QLD.... all the beautiful FROGS!!! I loved it when it rained for quite a bit here in summer, the songs were deafening the little grey guy is Litoria rubella, Red tree frog. Don't ask me where the red comes from!!! but they do come in heaps of colours. We have thousands of them here and spend most of the day and night moving them to safer locations (the wheelie bin lid and screen door track are NOT safe for tiny little frogs!) But I hope you disposed of that toad, many people believe in life for all..... I believe in conservation for everything else that would fit in its mouth and be eaten! Where is my nail rake?

Great pics! Even the toad pic is a good one! I don't blame the toads, they just do what comes naturally, I blame the idiotic cane growers and the government at the time for allowing them to be released without correct testing. In my mind they should be made to pay for the damage cane toads are causing, not the average taxpayer!

Wow, thanks for the great response and comments on the photos guys I have to confess Amanda, I did not kill the toad. I can't kill animals, I get someone else to do the dirty work lol If an animal has to be killed, I need for it to be done as quickly and as painlessly as possible. I don't know how to kill a toad humanely. I read the best method is to pop them in the freezer but I am positive that mum ( and me for that matter) would not agree with that. Old wives tales were....put salt and their back, spray them with dettol, and of course the good ole shovel! lol Oh and thanks for solving the grey froggie name

I've tried the dettol/bleach thing..... not instant. Nothing instantly kills a toad. When my folks were at Gin Gin QLD and I was visiting, I saw one run over before me by a semi trailer..... the d**n thing got up, swallowed its guts back down and HOPPED AWAY!!!!!! Nothing stops them!
