Here's a few pics from this years shearing. We had 64 alpacas to be shorn, have their feet trimmed and their teeth filed (with an angle grinder ) I was so busy moving animals in and out of the holding pens and all over the farm that I didn't see Chenoa til she was already on the mat and I almost missed her mother Lolly Pop altogether. Here's Chenoa before she was shorn After shearing Lolly Pop after shearing And just to make Lolly's day there was a very handsome stud male named Montana on offer so hopefully she is pregnant. ;D

OMG look at them ... bless ... little Chenoa looks so cute. Why do they tie them up like that to shear them? Boy Lolly looks happy .... NOT haha - good luck!

Bel they can't shear them like sheep cos of their size, strength and that long, strong neck so this is the only way. It doesn't hurt them. Some of the pacas spit so much that they wear a sock over their muzzle to catch it all so the shearer and roustys don't get covered in green, sticky, smelly goo. LOL
