I've suspected it for a while but it is confirmed now! My big central Desert Scorp has been of her food for weeks and her abdomen was swollen but I didn't think it was enough to be off her food. I cleaned out her home this morning because all her crickets die of starvation and she was sitting at the perfect angle for me to see........ White outlines in her abdomen! Yep, she's pregnant too Look out world, Manda's gonna have more scorps soon LOL. That's if they survive to maturity! I took some pics of her and I'm going to go over to Harvey Norman to see if their Photo Imaging Machines can convert the camera card images to CD cause our camera needs to be fixed PS then I can post update pics of the other babies and of Lizzy's wins

Amanda, not sure if you know this but to keep your crickets alive put half a raw potato in with them. They get food and water from the potato and your scorp will get vitamins too.

Oh I know how to look after crickets. The ones that you purchase from stores as live food are raised on carrots and don't accept other foods readily. I keep my crickets in a large aquarium on my veranda with grass, water, dog biscuits (for protein), carrot rings and Gutload* which is a food for crickets which when the crickets eat it give the scorps and other animals vitamins and nutrients. (Oh and you don't put food for the crickets in with them when they are prey in the scorpion enclosures because with the high humidity the food will rot quicker, and this mould WILL kill scorpions and spiders. That's why you have to clean out their homes very regularly)

Seems you have done your homework. I kept Oscars at one time and they got live crickets as a treat thats the only reason I know how to keep crickets alive. Interesting creatures you keep.

I've done heaps of research into pets I want to keep. Our house is too small for the tank needed for an Oscar to live in so I don't have any of them. Same thing for turtles, I wouldn't have the back yard to convert into a Pool for an adult turtle so we didn't get one of them! LOL

Some species of Scorpions are pregnant for up to 18 months (poor dears!) They'd be a couple of months old, or until they can eat small shop bought crickets. It's too much trouble for a person to buy pinhead crickets for one baby scorp! (takes me two weeks to get one tub from a pet store here!)

She hasn't given birth yet...all though I thought she would have soon, she spent days building a huge tunnel! But this morning it was filled in, so I'm not sure when she is due The other babies are little guts! They are always seen with crickets in their mouthes and they have grown heaps!

So I go in to the room where my scorps are just to check on them and give them a bit of a water spray and She has given birth....to 5 HUGE babies! They are the size of a 10c piece!!! I only hope that they live long enough for me to take some pics with a digital camera, I just have to find someone with one. It's just my luck that our camera get's put in for repairs and she gives birth! LOL I'll try to take some with my SLR tomorrow, I just hope they'll turn out. I'd be so upset if they don't

Yeah I did some more reading and the smaller species give birth to many tiny babies and the bigger give birth to less. Also mothers will absorb babies still in their "womb" if the going is tough. This gal hasn't eaten for months so I'd say that's where some of the babies went too. I just wish she would have eaten, she just wasn't in the mood for food!
